OFIA’s 78th annual meeting: innovation, outreach and embracing the bioeconomy

While Ontario’s forest industry has fared well through the pandemic, underlying issues need to be addressed in order to create a sustained economic recovery. Speakers at OFIA’s annual conference touched upon a few of those challenges. Here are some of the key takeaways.


Teaming up: Quebec entrepreneurs work together to seize opportunities

Stéphane Roux, Sébastien Dufour and Frédéric Bonneau, co-owners of Groupe Val, have found opportunities by teaming up with other forestry entreprenuers. They work with seven forestry teams and two subsidiaries. CFI shares an inside look at their operations.


Feds invest nearly $1.5M in construction of two mass timber schools in BC

The schools are part of a Vancouver School Board pilot project for future mass timber schools. Using mass timber will help the buildings have a greater resistance against earthquakes.
