BC’s retirement bridging program helps over 1,000 forestry workers

The program has helped more than 1,000 workers retire early, providing $46 million in benefits and creating more than 500 jobs for younger workers. In the B.C. Interior, nearly 840 forestry workers have retired, with over $29 million paid out from the program so far.


U.S. facing pressure to lift softwood lumber duty

Thanks to the high demand for housing and other wood products, and tight supply of lumber, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai is under pressure from homebuilders and lawmakers to remove the softwood lumber duty on Canadian lumber.


EACOM invests $7.7M in continuous dry kiln at Matagami mill

The kiln, which is expected to be fully operational by October 2021, will allow lumber to be dried 24 hours a day, without interruption, directly at the facility.


Robotic Research, FPInnovations partner to develop resource road truck platooning technology

The multi-year project aims at accelerating the adoption of off-road automated-vehicle (AV) technology to improve safety and address an acute labor shortage, thereby improving the quality and viability of rural jobs where natural resources are located.
