Some big changes are happening in Bolton, Ont. In August 2020, Weston Forest acquired Monterra Lumber Mills, a remanufacturing facility that has been a staple in the community for more than 30 years. Since then, the company has been modernizing the mill to boost production capacity in order to meet increased demand.

Dale Paterson, chair of Northern Pulp’s environmental liaison committee (ELC), presented the company’s roadmap to the forestry industry during a webinar that drew over 200 registrants. He unveiled a $350-million plan for the shuttered kraft pulp mill – a considerably higher investment than the company’s rejected 2019 proposal for a $150-million treatment facility.
