First Nations denounce engagement process on modernization of forest policy in BC

Twenty B.C. First Nations and Indigenous forestry organizations have signed in support of a letter from the BCFNFC, calling for a meaningful consultation to ensure that First Nations’ rights, priorities and values are incorporated into the modernization of forest policy.


West Fraser reduces production output across North America

West Fraser announced they reduced its output at its B.C. SPF, U.S. South SPF, North American OSB and Canadian plywood facilities by five to 10 per cent of available capacity in the first two months of Q3 2021.


Study: expect mill closures if BC stops old-growth logging

If the B.C. government concedes to environmentalists’ demands, industry forestry consultant Jim Girvan says up to four sawmills on the B.C. Coast and up to five in the B.C. Interior could be shut down.
