Lumber sales dip slightly as prices hold steady: Madison's

The U.S. Thanksgiving holiday brought the usual seasonal demand drop. Prices in most SPF and Hem/Fir items were firm to slightly up, while prices of SYP remained conspicuously soft.


Tolko announces temporary layoffs at two B.C. mills

Tolko Industries will temporarily lay off workers at two sawmills in Williams Lake, B.C., due to high fibre costs, challenging weather conditions, and weak lumber and plywood markets.


West Fraser to temporarily close Quesnel sawmill during holidays

West Fraser plans a temporary shutdown of its Quesnel Sawmill for seven days during the last two weeks of December, affecting approximately 280 employees.
