A thorough chain sling inspections starts with that you can actually "see" the chain links to be inspected. Heavy contaminated chain slings first need to cleaned to visually detect any faults and defects to determine if the slings are still safe to use and can be re-certified.
Make sure your chain sling inspection staff or hired contractor have the required equipment to remove dirt and any other contaminants, like the concrete splatters shown in the pictures below.
In all Unirope branches (Ontario, Quebec, Alberta) we have installed chain cleaning equipment which is able to remove concrete splatter, rust, dirt, and any contamination to put your chain sling into an inspectable condition. In many cases this saves an otherwise intact sling from being scrapped.
