Starting today, Rogers is offering small businesses Rogers Unison, a new mobile offering it said brings the features of a traditional landline phone to their mobile phone. As the first telecommunications provider in North America to launch such a service, Rogers said it is eliminating the need for small businesses to stay tethered to their desk phone.

A new global research initiative conducted by BlackBerry Ltd. concludes that despite extensive resources dedicated to mobile security, many IT decision-makers remain concerned about the level of vulnerabilities that persist. Greenlee Communication’s AirScout is, the company says, the only distributed test system on the market for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Wi-Fi services. Utilizing multiple sensors, the system creates a heat map of the Wi-Fi user experience so that the technician can properly set up Wi-Fi services for the customer.
Rather than just presenting signal levels and channel graphs, the system intelligently selects the best channel, the optimal access point and range extender locations, and provides application level throughput measurements that ensure the Wi-Fi experience meets the needs of the customer. The results are then wrapped up in a birth certificate and uploaded to the cloud for enhanced support services.
The AirScout helps the technician set up and troubleshoot Wi-Fi properly and also educates the subscriber about where their dead zones or performance edges are within their network.

A line of industrial-grade, precision ergonomic pliers for a wide range of specific tasks such as wire bending, forming, holding, and opening split rings are now available from Xuron Corp. of Saco, Maine.
Xuron Precision Pliers include 12 different head styles that are designed for specialized tasks such as wire bending, forming, holding, positioning, opening split rings, and reaching into confined spaces. Some have serrated blades for added holding power and the Model 450 Tweezer Nose can even pick up a human hair, while the Model 496 opens a split ring and holds it, the company says.
Made of heat-treated high carbon steel with an eye-friendly glare eliminating black finish, Light-Touch return springs, and Xuro-Rubber cushioned hand grips, the pliers were developed for holding delicate parts including thin metals, wire leads, and precision parts.
They are priced from US$15.50 depending on the model.
