The first tip comes from Jenny at Promus Restoration Specialists, Sudbury, Ontario. Promos makes a custom jig out of 1/2-inch plywood, every time they have to install crown moulding. Jenny sent an example of their jig to us, and Rob shows you how it works.
The second tip comes from contractor Steve Greer, Harvis Barklay Investments Inc., Mississauga, Ontario. Steve noticed a long time ago that sometimes electricians will put their electrical boxes for light switches too close to the double stud door frame. It’s a pain… because obviously that box will have to be moved further over to accommodate luxurious wide door trim. (Cut the trim, you say? Go back to school!). The simple solution is… put in a spacer, as Rob shows here…
