Brian Kusisto, CEO from Sexton Investment, states the following message:

"Like so many, I have been struck by the scale of the human tragedy which resulted from the Humboldt Broncos bus accident. It's almost incomprehensible that so many people -- many of them boys or young men -- would lose their lives in that one catastrophic moment.

Beyond the impact to their immediate families, friends, and the greater community, who now must find a way forward, there is the impact on the survivors, many of whom are reported to have severe injuries from which they must recover and live with. They will also have to come to terms with what happened, and why they, and not their friends and teammates, survived.

I grew up in rural Saskatchewan and played hockey and other sports in the small towns of Saskatchewan. We drove on similar highways, more often in cars than buses, sometimes in bad weather conditions. Through some good actions and lots of good luck, we avoided any serious accidents.

Later in life, my daughters went to swim meets around Western Canada in buses and always returned safely. At a moment like this, you stop and reflect on what might have been and how it must feel for those close to this tragedy who are now left to go on without a son, a husband or a father through no fault of their own.

A natural human reaction at a time like this is to want to reach out in support and to offer help. So, in recognition of our company's Prairie roots and our connections to people in communities large and small throughout Western Canada and beyond, we will make a donation from the Sexton Group to the Humboldt Broncos GoFundMe campaign. Money raised by this campaign will go directly to families to help with any expenses incurred.

We encourage every one of you to send your thoughts, prayers and positive energy to those most affected.
