Mitch Wile Embarks on an Independent Venture in Business Leadership & Education
After a successful and extensive career in the building supply industry, most recently serving as President of Calgary's The Cedar Shop, Mitch Wile has retired from his position. However, Mitch's retirement does not signify the end of his role as a business leader in the building supply industry.
Now, as one chapter of his career closes, Mitch will dedicate his time to growing his own venture. BRT (Business Round Table Leadership Inc.) is a dynamic industry training initiative aimed at fostering growth in the building materials sector. For the past three years, Mitch has been leading this training program on a small scale in the Calgary market. Now, in 2025, amid his retirement, Mitch plans to expand the scope of this valuable resource for owners, managers, and company successors across Canada.
Mitch has over 30 years of management experience in the building materials and construction industry in both Western and Eastern Canada, with various companies including Kenroc Building Materials, Winroc/SPI, LMT Group, and Emco Waterworks. His most recent position as President of The Cedar Shop culminated in a Hardlines Magazine award for Best Contractor Specialist Store in Canada for 2023. He was also voted one of Calgary's Top 20 Business Leaders by Business in Calgary Magazine in the same year.
Rather than being in a standard presentation format, BRT's sessions are conducted in a group format to encourage discussion and the sharing of ideas among participants around best business practices. The courses focus particularly on the fiscal responsibilities of owning, operating or managing a business.
Along with the group format courses, BRT also includes follow-up mentorship and guidance to ensure that what participants take away from the sessions is put into practical use long-term. These sessions will include straightforward financial reviews presented in an easy-to-understand format, along with discussions on the importance of partnering with vendors to strengthen and grow relationships.
Mitch's hope for BRT is to initiate training practicums across Canada, as well as offer in-house operational analysis and support, allowing strong independent businesses to continue their growth and success with best practices tailored to their specific operations. To make this training as accessible as possible, BRT's website will include an interactive LMS (Learning Management System) that will allow companies in remote locations to easily access the program, which would otherwise not be available to them in person.
If you are interested in further information or discussion about BRT with Mitch, you can reach out to him at mitch@brtleadership.ca.
Congratulations, Mitch, on continuing your great work in business education! We look forward to seeing what you accomplish with BRT.
