At times, training can be a frustrating part of running a business. It may feel like your efforts to train are not giving the results you expected or hoped for. Here are three best practices when it comes to training, to ensure a successful outcome.
Prepare engaging training materials: Effective training materials that lead to success will be engaging and utilize different mediums such as videos, visuals, and interactive elements like quizzes or skill tests.
Manage scheduling efficiently: If an employee or employee’s direct supervisor is worried about a lack of support while your employee if away on training, this creates added pressure and may result in rushed or uncompleted training efforts – risking errors to your business. Ensure there is dedicated time to training that fits into your business schedule, so that your employees can simply worry about what they need to learn.
Assess training needs regularly: Conduct regular assessments to identify where training is effective and where it could use improvements. Conduct feedback sessions on training after it is completed and assess the need for additional training as roles expand or change, or the work environment or regulations change.
2026 SEXTON GROUP MEMBER CALENDAR THEME – PROUD TO BE CANADIAN – SUBMIT YOUR PHOTOS
Every year, we put together a calendar of self-submitted photos from our Sexton Members all throughout the country. From cars to pets to travels – it is a fun opportunity to showcase a little about yourselves to our team and other members of the group and is one way we all stay connected throughout the year.
2025 has been a massive year for supporting Canadian made and Canadian owned. And of course, all of you make up the independent Canadian businesses that this movement has been all about supporting.
That is why this year, we are excited to announce that our calendar theme will be "Proud to be Canadian."
We look forward to continuing the positive, support-Canadian message by showcasing some of the ways you celebrate Canada. We all celebrate our Canadian pride in different ways, whether it’s enjoying nature, supporting our favourite sports teams, supporting our local community and businesses, or something else.
Whatever your way might be, we want to showcase it in our 2026 Calendar to keep that spirit throughout the new year.
Submit your photos to Sarah Bridges, Marketing Coordinator, at sbridges@sextongroup.com
We look forward to seeing what you come up with!
