The new federally funded Apprenticeship Support Project, hosted by First Peoples Development Inc. (FPDI) is offering small and medium businesses an incentive to take on first-year apprentices, with a specific focus on empowering people not typically represented in Canada’s skilled labour force.


Drop in small business optimism shows economic slowdown may be underway: CFIB

After a seven-month upward streak, the small business optimism index for the next 12 months dropped 2.1 points, sitting at 54.1 in June, according to the latest Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) Business Barometer®.

Technical Safety BC's 2022 State of Safety Report and Annual Report "detail the safety challenges that have impacted British Columbians over the past year, including the ongoing climate crisis, as well as safety priorities that have emerged as the province continues to adapt to a post-pandemic normal," states a news release.


Ontario puts $2.6M toward newcomer job training projects

Ontario is funding four training projects to help more than 300 newcomers, including displaced Afghans and Ukrainians, find jobs. Labour Minister Monte McNaughton says the $2.6 million will help people who sacrificed so much to get to Canada support themselves and their families, while also boosting Ontario’s economy.
