BCCA apprenticeship services project hits $10M milestone

The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) announced today that it has now issued $10 million in financial incentives to small and medium-sized construction industry employers through its Apprenticeship Services project, with $4 million more still available to applicants.

$150M needed to clear New Brunswick's home energy savings waitlist

NB Power needs another $150 million just to clear the waitlist of lower-income households in the province seeking insulation and heat pumps as part of a free program. So far, $60 million has been spent or budgeted for the program up to the end of the next fiscal year in April 2024.

The Canada Green Building Council has partnered with industry associations to develop free low-carbon skills training for the Canadian building sector. The Low Carbon Training Program is designed to equip professionals working in construction with a common language and understanding of low-carbon strategies and solutions.

When it comes to winning jobs, it all comes down to value. The more value you can offer potential clients, the more power you’ll have for winning jobs at higher prices. Decks are low-hanging fruit when it comes to this. Most decks are built with no more attention to longevity that pressure treated lumber and perhaps some joist tape. With that recipe a deck will last 10, 20 or maybe 25 years at the most. But put a handful of little-used deck details into practice and the decks you build can last 50 years at only slightly more cost.
