The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has announced a final rule intended to combat fake reviews and testimonials by prohibiting their sale or purchase and allowing the agency to seek civil penalties against knowing violators. Many Canadian contractors are reluctant to offer online reviews on their websites out of concern for the many ways the systems can be gamed or abused.
