Avian producers urged to practise biosecurity in wake of U.S. disease detections and migration In early 2016 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) was identified in commercial poultry flocks in the United States and Mexico. Wild birds, known carriers of the influenza virus, are believed to be the source of the outbreak in the U.S. Wild birds are now in migration.
