Canadian gold miner B2Gold Corp. said it received government approval to begin mining development at its Fekola gold mine in Mali, contrasting sharply with rival Barrick Gold Corp.'s ongoing dispute with the West African nation. The expansion at the Fekola mine will add 25,000 to 35,000 ounces of gold production this year, with output ramping up significantly in 2026, B2Gold said.

Tolomatic, a manufacturer of electric linear actuators and motion control solutions, has appointed Manish Virmani as president and chief executive officer. Virmani will replace Paul Carlson, who plans to retire later this year after serving more than five years in the role. The company's owners, Amy Toles and Adam Toles, said Carlson had a positive impact on the company's culture, performance and strategic direction during his tenure.

Business leaders and academics say they hope to see Canada and the U.S. maintain free trade protections for most goods once an agreement is reached, even if the negotiations can't stave off certain sectoral tariffs. It's unclear if the two countries will stick to the Aug. 1 deadline for wrapping up talks, as Prime Minister Mark Carney said Monday negotiations were in an "intense phase" but U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters last week that Canada wasn't a priority for his administration.

Trafag has announced the NAT 8252 Industrial Pressure Transmitter, a device intended for industrial monitoring and control systems. The transmitter features stainless steel construction and compact dimensions for installation in space-limited environments. German vacuum technology manufacturer Leybold has introduced two new oil diffusion pump series targeting research, industrial and oil industry applications. The DIFFVAC DP and DIFFVAC OB series create high and ultra-high vacuum conditions for heat treatment, coating, metallurgy, oil refining and research operations. The century-old technology uses heated oil vapours to remove gas molecules from pump chambers. The pumps serve oil industry distillation processes, degassing applications and specialized refining procedures requiring high vacuum environments.

Physik Instrumente has released the F-690.S1 SpaceFAB, a six-axis motorized positioning platform designed for precision automation applications. The system uses a parallel-kinematic design with three XY positioning stages that provide motion in six degrees of freedom. The platform includes direct-drive linear motors, cross-roller bearings and absolute encoders with one-nanometre resolution. The compact system supports payloads up to two kilograms and can operate in inverted orientations.

Endress+Hauser has released a carbon steel version of its Proline Prowirl O 200 flowmeter designed for upstream oil producers using thermal recovery methods such as steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD). The new flowmeter addresses challenges posed by elevated chloride content in high-pressure steam processes, which can cause corrosion in standard equipment. The carbon steel model replaces the stainless steel sensor body while maintaining the casted meter body design with standard flanges found in the original Prowirl O 200.
