La Citadelle is the largest co-op producer of maple syrup in the world. Plant Manager Jimmy Fortin declares, “With our export business in maple syrup, honey and cranberries of over 50 million pounds of product a year, product tracking is of the utmost importance.”

As we tour the plant that receives 60-80,000 large metal barrels of maple syrup to process for their 2 bottling lines, one plastic and one glass, Jimmy takes us to the coding station on the glass line. On the FoxJet MarksmanELITE HMI screen he enters multiple lines of content: barcode; supplier; quantity; bottle size; Product of Canada, lot # and best before date. This information seamlessly transfers to the corrugated boxes, “completely eliminating the need for expensive labels.”
