Contaminant detection plays a critical role in food safety. However, the reject system performs an equally important task - removing food safety risks and preventing contaminated product from reaching consumers.
Fortress Technology offer a variety of reject systems customized to suit each production, application and food safety need and processing plant configuration. Automated reject systems are recommended as they increase production uptime and ensure compliance with food safety programs, including FSMA, SQF, and GFSI.
The type of device used will depend on a number of factors, such as pack size, weight and shape, whether the product is free-flowing or packaged, factory layout, size and floorspace, as well as line pitch, speed and belt width of the conveyor. Reject options range from Air Blast, Flap Gate, Belt Stop Alarm, Diverter, Drop-nose, Kicker and Heavy Duty Kicker reject systems to Bi-directional Sweep, Overhead Sweep, Retracting Belt, Reversing, and Lift Nose systems.
For more information, listen to the Food Safety First Podcast on how to ensure accurate and repeatable rejection.
