It’s not a new issue – in much of the United States, drain tile has been used for agricultural purposes for at least a century, and potential for damage has existed as long as the oil and gas industry has been constructing pipelines. The risk is well known by all stakeholders – gas companies, landowners and contractors – but perhaps felt most by farmers who rely on tile drainage.
