Confirmed drainage district immunity

Iowa farm groups cheered a ruling issued last week by the Iowa Supreme Court that dealt a blow to the Des Moines Water Works in its lawsuit against three drainage districts in the state.


Launch of the Lake Simcoe soil health improvement project

The Lake Simcoe Soil Health Improvement Project offers financial support to farmers in the Lake Simcoe watershed for implementing select best management practices that improve soil health and water quality.


On-farm research utilizing drainage

Iowa State University’s Nashua farm has implemented and maintained many conservation practices, including cover crops, buffers and bioreactors. Its water quality plots – each drained by a separate tile drainage line in a long-term monitoring project – were initiated in 1988.
