MN announces alternative buffer rules

Last week, the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources released information on a "six-pack" of options landowners could use instead of a 16.5-foot buffer alongside public drainage ditches and a 50-foot buffer alongside public waters.

The drainage system along the primary runway at Scott Air Force Base in St. Clair County, IL, was originally clay pipe and perforated corrugated metal pipe. After 50 years, much of the pipe had deteriorated to the critical point where replacement was required.
