Trimble to acquire Müller-Elektronik

Trimble has signed an agreement to acquire privately held Müller-Elektronik, a German company specializing in implement control and precision farming solutions. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2017.


Ohio releases new nutrient management tools

The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) has introduced two new nutrient management tools: the Ohio Applicator Forecast, an online tool designed to help nutrient applicators identify when the potential nutrient loss from a fertilizer or manure application is low, and the Ohio Agricultural Stewardship Verification Program, a pilot certification for farmers who protect farmland and natural resources by implementing best management practices on their farms.


Certification program growing in Minnesota

Minnesota's agriculture water-quality certification program was first launched as a pilot three years ago, then expanded statewide. It now covers about 235,000 acres – less than one percent of the state's 26 million acres of farmland.

More than half of all farmers are either knowledgeable or very knowledgeable about the “4R” strategy (right nutrient source at the right rate, in the right place and at the right time).
