Governments invest in phosphorus runoff projects for Ontario

The Canadian federal and provincial governments are providing $240,000 in cost-share funding to enhance soil protection and support precision agriculture technology research, including funding one cover crop project that hopes to reduce phosphorus entering the Lake Erie watershed.

A new study published on the effects of subsurface drainage on crop yield in North Dakota’s Fargo clay soil has good news and bad news for drainage contractors. The field trials revealed in some years, the field with no drainage yielded higher than tiled fields, and in other years, there was no noticeable difference in yield between drainage treatments. » Read more...
