Despite the many agricultural benefits to drainage, in some cases subsurface drainage can lead to serious environmental problems. A database, published earlier this year in the journal Scientific Data provides the data needed in order for researchers to examine subsurface drainage in order to determine which methods benefit both the grower and the environment.
