Ontario contractor Ken Watkins went from the struggles of swine farming – a tough business in Ontario – and doing his own drainage, to helping other area farmers in Haldimand, Norfolk, Brant and Niagara enhance their agri-businesses through proper drainage. While Watkins established his business in a well-drained province, his home county of Haldimand bucked that trend. With relatively cheap farmland but thick, clay soils, Haldimand was filled with potential. For Watkins, the challenge became building the market while he tried to build his business.
