EtherCAT Bridge for Cool Muscle from Myostat Motion Control

Myostat Motion Control recently announced the new EtherCAT bridge for CM1 and CM2 Cool Muscle Integrated servos. The bridge connects to any EtherCAT network, and provides up to 4 axis of servo control. The EtherCAT bridge opens up the opportunity to utilize smaller, cost effective closed loop motion axis within your machine replacing under-performing stepper motors or motors that are beyond the control of your EtherCAT Master controller.

By placing the EtherCAT hardware within the bridge, Muscle Corp. has kept the size of the intelligent motor to a minimum. This is ideal for use in parallel robotic applications, SCARA and other types of robotic arms, and multi-axis positioning systems with tight space envelope constraints. I/O can be wired directly to the motors on-board controller, and controlled by the EtherCAT master, distributing cabling and reducing the cost associated with DIN mount I/O modules.

The Cool Muscle EtherCAT bridge conforms to CiA402 Drive Profile, and includes Cyclic Synchronous Position mode and Homing mode. Built in functions within the Cool Muscle and access to the motors native programming language are also accessible via the EtherCAT network, expanding the possibilities of each axis, and simplifying the programming of your machine.

Integrated Servo Systems from Myostat Motion Control

Myostat Motion Control Inc. provides modern motion solutions for OEMs and integrators within Canada. The Cool Muscle line of servo motors provides all the common components required for motion control embedded into the motor itself. The seamless integration of both software and hardware components create highly efficient motion modules that can be easily integrated into existing designs, or used to shorten the development cycle of your new machine.

The Cool Muscle outperforms traditional servo and stepper systems by virtue of the controller's multiple closed feedback loops with the driver and high resolution encoder. Short wire lengths reduce susceptibility to EMI and noise while removing
servo and encoder cables that often add considerable cost, inventory and complexity. On-board PLC functionality also reduces machine component count and costs, and allows for modern, elegant machine design. A variety of industrial buses are available for communications and networking with third party host controllers.

LX Series and R Series Right Angle Servo Gearboxes

Designed for versatility and durability, the right angle structure features an aluminium alloy housing for the highest stiffness and components made from hardened high strength steel are reliable under the most severe conditions. All grease filled gear heads can be used in any orientation without resulting in messy oil leaks and a unique wear resistant surface treatment on the helical bevel gears ensures high durability and lower running noise.

All R Series gearboxes are pre-matched for Cool Muscle servos and employ helical cut bevel gears for smooth, quiet motion. Frame sizes range from 42mm to 90 mm with a diverse range of output styles sure to fit your next machine. Models are available in both single and dual output variations, in both long and short body lengths.
