Optimal seal performance requires the appropriate design of the two components that the seal interfaces with: the Bore and the Shaft. Lead-in chamfers on the Bore and Shaft prevent damage during installation. Proper tolerancing of the bore ensures a good press fit of the seal and prevents leakage and eliminates seal movement during operation. Correct shaft diameter and surface finish improves sealing performance. Minimizing shaft movement and misalignment reduces wear on the sealing lip.
