Custom vulcanized O-Rings are often the fastest and most cost effective solution for static sealing applications requiring a non-standard diameter O-Ring. Vulcanized rings are produced from extruded elastomeric cord, cut to length and hot spliced using heated dies and heat sensitive bonding agents. The heated die provides consistent heat to help form a clean and visually appealing finish to the joint. Cold splicing is typically used on foam elastomers where heat would damage the material.

Moving applications integrated with cables require durable cable management systems. With machines constantly developing to meet higher standards, new challenges in managing systems’ cables come into play. Keeping machines in constant operation requires innovative and modern technology. Many “traditional” cable management systems are now considered outdated. One system, however, has modernized to meet the requirements of Industry 4.0 in various industries. Read this interactive whitepaper to learn more!

Disc Springs are conically-shaped washers designed to be axially loaded. They can be used individually or assembled into stacks to achieve the desired force-deflection characteristic required for the application. Since deflection of a Disc Spring at a given load is predictable, it is possible to calculate force and stress levels within the Disc. This paper focuses on the use of Disc Springs and how to estimate fatigue life in dynamic situations.

Smalley’s Nested Spirawave Wave Springs are now available as standards. These flat wire springs are coiled in parallel with multiple turns to produce high loads, and are ideal for applications requiring high forces in tight spaces. When replacing single-turn wave spring stacks with one nested spring, misalignment and uneven loading are eliminated, simplifying assembly. Standard or custom, Smalley will provide you the right part, in the right material, with No Tooling Charges™.
