“Canadian manufacturing is at a critical juncture” • From the Editor

While Ottawa continues to fumble and stumble, bringing us ever closer to the brink of falling off the world stage altogether, a coalition of Canadian manufacturers is trying to do what it can to keep that from happening.


Nexans completes delivery of Maritime Link subsea cables

Starting in late April 2017, Nexans installed the submarine cables in the Cabot Strait to a depth of about 470 metres, thereby electrically interconnecting the provinces of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador for the first time. The final high-voltage tests were successfully conducted on the link in September 2017.


Hubbell Canada and Burndy Canada unification now complete

Hubbell Canada says its customers “may now enjoy the benefits of reduced transaction cost with an ability to place any product on a single order, receive one shipment and one invoice”.


Hydro-Quebec selected to provide 9.45 TWh to Massachusetts utilities

After a competitive solicitation process, the Northern Pass Transmission project was selected to deliver 100% hydropower by the Massachusetts evaluation team.


Magic Lite announces 2017 EFC scholarship winner

Jordan Hamilton is 2017’s winner of Magic Lite’s Future Leaders Award Scholarship, part of the EFC Scholarship Program. Tom Penton, president, Magic Lite, and senior management presented the $3,000 scholarship to Hamilton.
