Building construction price indexes still on the rise

Increases in the costs to construct non-residential buildings were mostly driven by a rise in prices for metal fabrication products and concrete elements. Contractors mainly attributed the higher costs to rising labour costs and rises in the price of steel products, which was impacted by supply constraints.


Alberta prompt payment comes into effect August 2022

The new Prompt Payment & Construction Lien Act (renamed Builders’ Lien Act), which introduces prompt payment, changes to the existing Builders’ Lien Act, and an adjudication process comes into effect August 29, 2022.
