The new edifice will be located along Autoroute 40 at the junction of Autoroute 13 in Saint-Laurent, Que. The building will triple the firm’s warehouse space and double its office area. Citing the importance of energy management, Franklin Empire is targeting “at least LEED Silver certification” with the building; meaning, the distributor will certify the facility’s sustainability throughout its design, construction and operation.

73% of Canadian homeowners have seen an increase in their electrical bills in the past year, and most are interested in further integrating energy monitoring systems (71%) and smart switches (63%) into their homes to help combat that rise. However, a study finds that while 79% of them are familiar with smart home solutions, less than 1 in 5 households have adopted and integrated the technology.

Cummins says its entire line of diesel generator sets has been approved for use with paraffinic fuels (EN15940), including hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), when used in standby applications. HVO is not prone to bacterial growth, making it suitable for applications requiring extended fuel storage, including back-up power standby.
