Southwire broke ground on a new copper rod manufacturing plant in Carrollton, Ga., in August 2021, and expects the project to be complete this year. “Supply chain issues have slowed down the construction progress some, but our contractors have assured me that our planned commissioning time will be on schedule,” said Doug Teate, director of SCR Project Management.

The Saskatchewan Research Council and Westinghouse Electric Canada have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance very small modular reactors (vSMRs, a.k.a. micro-reactors) in Saskatchewan. Westinghouse and SRC will jointly develop a project to locate an eVinci micro-reactor in the province for the development and testing of industrial, research, and energy use applications.

The CSA Z463 Technical Committee has reconvened to begin the task of updating “Maintenance of electrical systems” for publication in 2023. “The committee received excellent feedback from many industry electrical specialists during the public review phase of the current release—and after the release—regarding the adaptation and implementation of the standard,” reports TC member Hany Soloumah.
