The government is spending $4.8 million to expand dual-credit programs in secondary schools, thereby creating opportunities for an additional 2200 students to earn college credits and take apprenticeship training in the skilled trades while still in high school. These dual-credit programs support eligible students to take courses or training that count toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and a post-secondary certificate, diploma, degree or a Certificate of Apprenticeship.

Ottawa launched construction of the Modernized Gatineau Energy Centre—one of four sites that make up the federal district energy system, which provides heating for 80 buildings and cooling for 67 in the National Capital Region (NCR). This work is part of the $3.8-billion Energy Services Acquisition Program (ESAP); the contract was awarded to a consortium comprising PCL, ENGIE and Black & McDonald, with participation from bbb architects and WSP.

Through its Indigenous Energy Support Programs, Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator is providing more than $4.8 million to numerous groups to support a suite of energy-related programs and projects. Indigenous-led projects receiving funding through the Indigenous Energy Support Programs will help develop renewable generation, EV charging, energy efficiency measures and community energy planning, as well as skills development and training opportunities for youth.
