The CLAC Apprenticeship Support Program (CASP) seeks to increase the number of individuals entering and completing the apprenticeship pathway to become journeymen “and gain rewarding careers in the skilled trades”. CASP will provide financial incentives to employers who hire first-year apprentices in 39 eligible Red Seal trades, as well as assistance with recruiting, onboarding, and retaining apprentices, including training on creating inclusive workplaces.

“Building owners want to reduce the energy use of their home, office or retail space, but the upfront costs of these retrofits can be a challenge for people,” said Selina Robinson, Minister of Finance. “This Clean Building Tax Credit will help owners of larger—often older and energy-inefficient buildings—invest in cleaner energy retrofits by putting dollars back into their pockets.”

The new National Model Codes development system will ensure there is more consistency in innovative building techniques, added Champagne, “such as helping to meet energy efficiency standards”.

The new DER lab in Independence, Ohio, will address an increasing demand for the testing and certification of energy storage devices, charging equipment, microgrid components, and power conversion systems, says CSA Group. “With more industries seeking to decarbonize, the demand for energy storage and microgrid products continues to increase, and so does the need for testing, evaluation and certification services [...],” said CSA’s David Weinstein.
