The Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA) reports Canada’s wind and solar energy sectors “grew significantly” in 2022. “I am happy to see that, across Canada, the sector grew by an impressive 10.5% […]” said CanREA’s Phil McKay. “Canada now has an installed capacity of more than 19 GW of utility-scale wind and solar energy, having added more than 1.8 GW of new generation capacity in 2022.”

Jennifer Green, director of competitions with Skills Ontario, was recognized with a 2022 Premier’s Award at the annual Higher Education Summit under the category of Apprenticeship. “Recognizing that these careers are just as important, by showcasing them, it will continue to break down the stigmas and stereotypes within our province and country,” Green said during her acceptance speech.

ApprenticeSearch.com welcomed skilled trades job seekers, employers, partners and government stakeholders to its Burlington, Ont., offices for its inaugural “Gateway to the Trades” open house. The open house featured Skills Ontario, which brought its “Trades and Tech Truck” to give participants a hands-on skilled trades experience. In addition, Ryobi Tools representatives provided tool demonstrations to participants, and multiple local employers participated in a panel highlighting the opportunities available in the trades.
