The Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA) reports Canada’s wind and solar energy sectors “grew significantly” in 2022. “I am happy to see that, across Canada, the sector grew by an impressive 10.5% […]” said CanREA’s Phil McKay. “Canada now has an installed capacity of more than 19 GW of utility-scale wind and solar energy, having added more than 1.8 GW of new generation capacity in 2022.”


ESA expands its compliance toolbox with administrative penalties

With the aim of reducing illegal and unsafe electrical installations across Ontario, the Electrical Safety Authority has been empowered to impose “administrative” (financial) penalties. “In addition to prosecutions, ESA now has another compliance tool that will hold participants of the underground economy accountable for their dangerous behaviours,” said Josie Erzetic, ESA’s president & CEO. “These penalties will be utilized to send a clear message that will act as a strong deterrent to unlicensed work.”
