Over $160 million for nine Alberta solar energy projects

Ottawa is contributing over $160 million to nine Alberta-based solar power projects that, combined, will generate 163 MW and provide 48 MW of energy storage. “As an Indigenous-controlled solar power company, MNPA is excited to work alongside the government to provide renewable energy in a way that is meaningful and empowering to stewards of the land,” said Kurt Vouri of the Métis Nation Power Authority Inc., which is the recipient of $12.8 million from the pot.


Weidmuller joins the AD network

Weidmuller Ltd. Canada has joined the AD Electrical, Canada division. Starting August 1, Weidmuller will be integrated into the AD network—the largest marketing/buying group for construction and industrial supplies in North America. “The collaboration between Weidmuller and AD Electrical-Canada is of great significance,” said Vince Hosick, distribution manager, Weidmuller Ltd.

With 70GWh production capacity, Hithium delivers significant battery advances

Located in Ningxia, China’s biggest standalone energy storage power station has a capacity of 400MWh and output of 1.33 billion kWh per year and features Hithium’s immersion liquid-cooling technology. Further Hithium product innovations reduced the floor area for this power station by 35%, thus significantly lowering LCOS.

Prompt payment legislation in New Brunswick receives Royal Assent

The Construction Prompt Payment and Adjudication Act (a.k.a. Bill 42) In New Brunswick received Royal Assent. “Delayed payments create significant cash flow struggles for contractors. This legislation will help make sure payments flow in an orderly, expected, and timely system,” said Andrew Myers, president, Construction Association of New Brunswick. EverWind building three wind farms in Nova Scotia

EverWind Fuels announced the purchase of three wind farm development projects in Nova Scotia—Windy Ridge and, in partnership with Membertou, Bear Lake and Kmtnuk—that will power Phase 1 of its green hydrogen and ammonia project. Trent Vichie, CEO of EverWind, says this $1-billion private investment “helps Nova Scotia move more quickly and cost-effectively toward its clean energy transition”.
