Two prominent electrical industry members have been named to the 2023 class of Women in Manufacturing Hall of Fame: Laura Lyke of ICC International (awarded posthumously) and Nancy Richards Farese of Southwire Company. Along with the other honorees, these women will be officially welcomed into the Hall of Fame with a ceremony and gala next month.

The day started cool and overcast, ending with warmth and sunny skies... just about perfect weather for Electro-Federation Canada’s 21st Annual Federation Cup Golf Tournament. Besides bringing together 300+ electrical manufacturers, distributors, and manufacturer reps for a day of camaraderie and networking, the annual golf tournament serves as a fundraiser for EFC’s Scholarship Fund.

Overall investment in building construction declined 5.2% to $55.7 billion in the second quarter, entirely due to a drop in residential construction (Non-residential construction was up 1.8% to $17.8 billion). Investment in single-family homes fell 10.5% to $19.7 billion in the second quarter—the largest decline since the second quarter of 2020—and multi-unit construction declined for the third straight quarter.

Ontario’s Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade reports CES Transformers is investing $4 million to expand its existing facility in Markham, upgrade equipment, and train additional staff. The province is providing CES with nearly $610,000 in funding through the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Competitiveness (AMIC) stream of its Regional Development Program.
