Trystar has acquired Quebec-based Primax Technologies Inc. to “strengthen its portfolio of electrical power conversion and battery technology solutions” used in the utility, power generation, commercial, and industrial markets. “[This acquisition] advances our capabilities for utility substations and industrial battery system solutions [...],” said Trystar CEO A.J. Smith.

Sandra Pedro has joined ABB as director, Sales & Marketing, Utility Market, Electrification, Canada. She joins ABB from Electro-Federation Canada (EFC), where she served as vice-president, Membership & Corporate Partners. Prior to EFC, she spent over 20 years at Schneider Electric in various positions, including director of Global Offer Management, Global Digital Energy Division.

Electrical Cable Supply is contributing a range of electronic and Cat 5e wire and cables to the UBC Solar project “Brightside”. Comprising 80 undergraduate members, UBC Solar is a student engineering design team at the University of British Columbia. Project Brightside involves both designing and racing a solar-powered car. “We believe in empowering the next generation of engineers and innovators to push the boundaries of what is possible,” said Angie Schwan, ECS branch manager.

Lori Bagazzoli has been named general manager for Ledvance, Canada Region, where she will lead the sales team across the country. “Lori has been with Ledvance since March 2021 as our Central Region sales manager, and has built a high-performing sales team,” said Jonathan Lubeck, CEO, Ledvance USC. “Lori’s direct experience with some of our key account relationships, and her industry knowledge, make her a great selection for this role.”

Steve Boccadoro, senior vice-president and general manager of Eaton’s electrical business in Canada, will be retiring after nearly four decades with the company. Boccadoro joined Eaton in 1987 as an internal auditor and, among many roles, served as senior vice-president, Corporate Sales and Marketing, Eaton, before moving back to Canada in 2014 to assume the role of senior vice-president and general manager. His successor is Chris Fluit.
