Electrical trades curriculum overhaul in Ontario coming soon

According to the Electrical Contractors Association of Ottawa, Skilled Trades Ontario will be phasing in a new curriculum standard in September 2024 in three (3) Electrical trades: 309A Electrician-Construction and Maintenance, 442A Industrial Electrician, and 309C Electrician-Domestic and Rural.


Emergency lighting veteran, Bruno Ardito, joins ABB

ABB’s Emergency Lighting Business has welcomed Bruno R. Ardito to the position of sales specialist, Central Canada, effective February 26. Ardito is approaching 30 years of experience in the lighting and emergency lighting markets, starting with Juno Lighting, followed by nearly two decades with BeLuce (formerly Beghelli Canada Inc.).


Investing in apprentices means investing in our future

As of 2022, over 110,600 individuals were employed in Canada’s electricity sector, across a range of occupations. However, the report “Electricity in Demand: Labour Market Insights 2023-2028” finds the sector requires close to 28,000 new employees by 2028 (equivalent to 25% of the current labour force): 57% to replace retiring employees, and 43% to meet expansion demand.
