Ontario’s Electrification and Energy Transition Panel delivered its final report “Ontario’s Clean Energy Opportunity” to the Minister of Energy. J. Mark Rodger with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, meantime, notes that the panel’s report lacks specificity regarding what actually constitutes “energy transition”. Rodger points out that, while the report makes multiple references to addressing climate change, the clean energy economy and net-zero, “Ultimately, the Government of Ontario will determine what is—and what is not—energy transition”.

Just like when operating cranes, understanding how to read load charts is critical in the operation of a digger derrick. In many ways, digger derricks are similar to cranes... telescoping and rotating booms, jibs and other attachments, and winches with load lines that can be configured with multiple parts of line. Applying load knowledge will help with the safe operation of this equipment (not to mention help one become a certified digger derrick operator).

Electro-Federation Canada’s 2024 Scholarship Program has launched, with $165,000 available to university and college students across dozens of scholarships. “The EFC Scholarship Program is an important initiative where EFC, through its membership, is making a significant impact in growing potential industry talent through educational financial support to Canadian students,” said Catherine McKeown, chair, EFC Scholarship Committee.

The first of Grand River Transit’s electric buses will begin service in the Region of Waterloo (Ontario) as part of its zero-emission bus pilot project. An additional 10 electric buses are expected this year. As part of the pilot, GRT will collect information on how battery-operated buses handle different routes and driving conditions, and gather feedback from customers.
