Boccadoro retires after 37 years; Fluit to lead Eaton in Canada

Steve Boccadoro, senior vice-president and general manager of Eaton’s electrical business in Canada, will be retiring after nearly four decades with the company. “Throughout his career, Steve was known for his impactful, empathetic leadership and strong track record of success for our customers, employees, and operations in North America,” said Fernando Ceccarelli, president of Eaton’s Protection, Control and Solutions division.

Following a crummy December, building permits rebound in January 2024

Month over month, the total value of building permits in Canada rose 13.5% in January 2024 to $10.8 billion, rebounding after a decrease of 11.5% in December. Gains in the residential sector were led by a strong rebound in multi-unit construction intentions (+35.1% to $4.0 billion); Ontario led this increase (+29.1% to $1.4 billion), with multi-unit permits concentrated in the census metropolitan areas of Toronto, Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo and London. » Read more

Federal legislation to help ensure construction sector gets what it’s owed

Federal prompt payment legislation came into force on December 9, 2023, to address “long-standing construction industry concerns”, including the timeliness of payments and and making it easier to do business with the Government of Canada.
