Kohler Energy spun off as independent business

Kohler Co. and Platinum Equity have closed the transaction to establish Kohler Energy as a separate, independent business. Platinum is now the majority owner of the Energy business, while Kohler Co. remains an investment partner. Financial details were not disclosed. The move allows Kohler to focus on its Kitchen and Bath, Wellness, and Hospitality businesses, explained David Kohler, “while also positioning the Energy business to reach its full potential under the ownership of Platinum Equity”.

Hundreds of EV chargers coming to Vancouver Island’s capital region

Hundreds of public electric vehicle chargers will be installed throughout the Capital Regional District with combined funding of more than $8.7 million from the federal and provincial governments, the district, and the City of Victoria. The funding will support the installation of approximately 576 Level 2 and 20 direct-current fast-charge (DCFC) charging ports in roughly 80 public locations across the region.

Municipal Affairs reports over 2000 electrical incidents in Alberta

Municipal Affairs, Government of Alberta, has compiled a summary report of electrical incidents reported between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. During this period, a total of 2,018 electrical incidents were reported, involving overhead and underground powerlines, and other types of electrical installations or equipment. Municipal Affairs says their report underrepresents the actual incidents that occurred, as not all of them are reported. » Read more

Beyond university: Ontario showing students the path to success in the skilled trades

Announced at IBEW Local 353 in Toronto, the Province of Ontario is contributing over $62.9 million to two of the its skilled trades programs with the aim of helping more than 18,000 young people explore and prepare for becoming the workers needed “to build transit, hospitals and at least 1.5 million homes by 2031”. And, with a $1.3-million contribution, IBEW launched a free project to prepare 48 people from underrepresented groups as electricians. » Read more
