nVent sharpens focus on Electrical with sale of Thermal Management business

nVent Electric plc is selling its Thermal Management business to funds managed by Brookfield Asset Management for a cash purchase price of $1.7 billion. “Consistent with our strategy, the sale represents a significant step to nVent becoming a higher growth and more focused electrical connection and protection leader [...]” said nVent chair and CEO Beth Wozniak.


Labour, interest rates, building code updates impact building construction prices, Q2 2024

Statistics Canada reports residential building construction costs increased 0.8% in the second quarter this year, following a 1.0% increase in the previous quarter. Non-residential building construction costs rose 1.1% in the second quarter, following a 1.0% increase in Q1. Year-over-year, construction costs for residential buildings in the 11 census metropolitan area (CMA) composite rose 4.2% in the second quarter, while non-residential building construction costs saw an increase of 4.3% (see Table).

$14-million modernization package coming to Siemens’ Drummondville facility
