The Scotford Solar Farm adjacent to Shell’s Energy & Chemicals Park (near Edmonton) has reached commercial operation. The 58-MW (MWAC) facility is the largest behind-the-meter solar project in Canada, says Silicon Ranch—the North American solar platform for Shell that will own, operate, and maintain the facility. The project “represents a successful outcome for our partners at Shell Canada and our partners in Strathcona County” said Silicon Ranch’s Reagan Farr.

The governments of Alberta and Ontario have agreed to work together to address the skilled trades labour shortage. Under a Memorandum of Understanding, the provinces will share expertise and information, and explore an international credential recognition framework for skilled trades that will enhance this process and support mobility between these jurisdictions.

“The [federal] government’s proposed Clean Electricity Regulations will determine how trillions of dollars’ worth of investments will be spent. SaskPower celebrated the completion of its first utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS). The 20-MW capacity BESS is located on Fleet Street in Regina, situated on a site measuring 102 x 69 metres. The system’s components are connected by cables measuring a total of 63 kilometres.

Cambrian College is renaming its primary Electrical Engineering lab to “Eaton Electrical Lab” in recognition of its partner. Equipped with Eaton products, the lab serves as a hub for research, development, and training. Eaton has also made a financial contribution to the construction of Cambrian’s new electric vehicle (EV) research lab.
