British Columbia is adding $151 million to the $103.7 million that’s coming from Canada’s Low Carbon Economy Fund and the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) program to help people make the switch to heat pumps. Eligible residents in northern B.C. can access up to an additional $3000 toward the installation of a heat pump. Homes that require an electrical system upgrade can also qualify for a rebate of up to $5000 to complete the work.

Manitoba has launched a rebate program to get more Manitobans into electric vehicles. The $25-million Manitoba Electric Vehicle Rebate program will offer a $4000 incentive on new qualifying EV purchases, and a $2500 incentive on used qualifying EV purchases (including EVs purchased on or after August 1, 2023).

Glencore Canada Corp. is receiving up to $11 million in funding from industrial pollution pricing proceeds to substitute diesel-powered machinery with battery electric-powered equipment at the Craig Mine Onaping Depth Project in Ontario. The Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations aims to be one of the world’s first mines wholly operated by battery electric vehicles.

Siemens is recalling SolarReady meter combos, catalogue numbers MC2442S1200SC and MC2442S1200FC, due to a possible poor electrical connection that could result in overheating, and present the risk of fire. Specifically, a wire with an incorrect stripping length may have been applied in the internal assembly, which allows for a lug set screw to compress the wire insulation instead of the conductor alone.

Brady Corp. has completed its acquisition of Gravotech, a provider of marking and engraving solutions, in a transaction valued at about $130 million US. Gravotech offers specialty laser and mechanical engraving capabilities intended for direct part marking within a variety of industries and applications.
