Calling it a first in North America’s electrical industry, Sonepar inaugurated its automated cable cut and automated storage & retrieval system (ASRS) at Lumen’s central distribution centre (CDC) in Laval, Que. To support the integration of the new automation system, Lumen remodelled its CDC and expanded it by an additional 180,000 sq. ft.

BC Electrical Association has appointed Will Davis as its new president & CEO effective October 1. He replaces outgoing president & CEO Barbette Igonia, who is retiring at the end of November after a career with BCEA spanning over 30 years. “After meeting Will, I knew the BCEA would be in great hands,” said Igonia.

On October 2, owners of JuiceBox electric vehicle supply equipment were informed by Enel X Way North America of its decision to close its electric mobility business in the U.S. and Canada effective October 11. This leaves over 170,000 EV chargers across the U.S. and Canada without software support, rendering them largely inoperable, according to Electric Avenue, a Halifax-based provider of EV charging solutions.

IBEW Local 773 is on the receiving end of several million dollars from the Province of Ontario to both build a new training facility and train local electrical workers. The bulk of the funding will go toward building a new 24,000-sf training centre in Windsor. $763,410 will be used to train new electrical workers and connect apprentices with employers.
