With great sadness, Electrical Business Magazine reports the passing of Robert “Bob” Nelson on November 21, 2024. He was 78. He was a champion of the electrical industry for decades, including consulting with CSA Group and coordinating electrical apprenticeships at Mohawk College, the National Electrical Trade Council posted to LinkedIn.

Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. The Province of Ontario has launched the second round of its Skills Development Fund (SDF) Capital Stream, with over $74 million in available funding to build, expand, or retrofit training facilities for workers in the trades. The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development says this second round boasts an “enhanced, streamlined application process” that includes a new pathway to help with the upfront costs of developing construction proposals.

Ontario Electrical League is delivering the “Employer Engagement Program”, which not only helps contractors with apprenticeship, but also addresses topics of importance to small businesses, such as contracts, insurance, and financial stability. Importantly, you do not have to be an OEL member contractor to participate in the program, which supports several skilled trades.
