With great sadness we reported the passing of Bruce Wesley MacGowan (Royal Pipe) on April 10. He was 67. A visitation was held at Jersey’s Bar & Grill on Headon Road in Burlington on April 13. A memorial donation can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada or Juravinski Hospital.

Sometimes the best career path is the one that comes upon you serendipitously, without any great plan or strategy. Such was the case with Shelley Parker, who currently serves as vice-president, Metering, at Alectra Utilities Corp. As a student, she applied for summer work at Bruce Power, “as they were known to hire students who could lead facility tours or perform odd jobs”. But things did not go as planned, and Shelley never got that job at Bruce Power.
