In partnership with several distribution utilities, the Alberta Energy Efficiency Alliance has launched a new RFP “related to a showcase of demand response in Alberta”. Demand-side management (DSM) is an untapped resource for Alberta’s utility system that can unlock meaningful affordability and reliability benefits while creating new opportunities for local companies to deliver DSM projects, writes AEEA.


Non-residential building permit activity blossoms in February 2025

The total value of building permits issued in Canada increased by $371.3 million (+2.9%) to $13.1 billion in February 2025, Statistics Canada reports. The national value of non-residential building permits increased by $618.7 million (+15.3%) to $4.7 billion in February, rebounding after four consecutive months of decline. BC’s non-residential sector led the growth, supported by gains in the commercial and institutional components.


Enova donates $6,250 to youth support organization on behalf of customers

Enova Power Corp. kicked off the new year with a $6,250 donation to OneRoof Youth Services. Enova made the donation on behalf of its customers who switched to eBilling during the annual autumn eBilling campaign, which ran from November 4 until December 13, 2024.

The construction of facilities for keeping things refrigerated across Canada continues unabated, with the cold storage market in this country generating revenues of $11.1 billion US in 2024.

When we talk about cold storage facilities, we typically think about the food and beverage (F&B) sectors, which are the primary drivers behind their construction.

From the outside, a cold storage warehouse often looks like a simple, non-descript box. On the inside, however, it is a sophisticated conglomeration of racking, lighting and, especially, the cooling system. “And that cooling system is not just an energy hog,” says Stan Wachon. “It also demands power consistency.”
